The Federal Do Not Call (DNC) Registry is maintained at the federal level and applies across all industries. This guide explains how Volie helps you remain compliant with Federal DNC regulations, while maximizing your ability to reach customers.
Understanding Federal DNC Guidelines
Transaction Windows
Federal guidelines allow you to contact customers who are on the Federal DNC list if they fall within these timeframes:
18 months since their last transaction with your dealership
90 days since they submitted a lead or became a prospect
Note: Some states have different guidelines. You can modify these timeframes in your settings if needed for state-specific compliance.
How Volie helps you stay compliant
We strongly recommend registering for a Federal DNC account and providing Volie with your Subscription Account Number (SAN). This allows us to:
Automatically check customers against the Federal DNC registry
Filter out customers who are on the DNC and outside the transaction window
Safely enroll customers from manufacturer lists or other external sources
If an account does not have a SAN (Subscription Account Number), we’re unable to check against the Federal Do Not Call (DNC) registry. In these cases, we take a conservative approach and assume all numbers are on the Federal DNC list. We then verify each contact for a recent transaction or recent lead to confirm eligibility under Established Business Relationship (EBR) guidelines.
Please note that this logic applies only to campaigns enrolled through query parameters, scheduled runs, or imported lists. It does not apply to inbound calls or to customers enrolled via the API.

Disabling Federal DNC Filters for Specific Campaigns
In certain situations, you may elect to contact all customers regardless of their DNC status or transaction history.
To disable the Federal DNC filter:
Open your campaign settings
Navigate to the Federal DNC Restrictions tab
In the Federal Do Not Call Settings section, change the setting from Transaction to None
Please Note: Only account users can make this change. Volie team members cannot adjust or disable this filter for you. If assistance is needed, we can guide you through the process on a call.
Checking Enrollment Results
After running a campaign or loading a list, you can verify how the Federal DNC filter affected enrollment.
Where to Check
Access the Enroller run, and click the Potentials tab
Review the two columns noted below.
Understanding the Columns
US Fed DNC Column:
Pass = Customer is NOT on the Federal DNC list (they can be enrolled)
Fail = Customer IS on the Federal DNC list (check next column)
Recent Transaction or Lead Column:
Only relevant if the customer failed the US Fed DNC check
If they failed DNC but passed this check = They transacted within the allowed timeframe (they can be enrolled)
If they failed DNC and failed this check = They are outside the transaction window (they cannot be enrolled)
Please note: If a customer passes the US Fed DNC check (meaning they're NOT on the DNC list), the Recent Transaction column is irrelevant - they qualify for enrollment regardless of when they last transacted.
