Locating Data Imports
From the Homepage, click Admin in the left menu bar. Then, select Data Imports under Data Settings.
IMPORTANT: Lists must be in CSV format. Ensure the first row contains column headers, with data below. Remove any extra text, notes, or unnecessary information before uploading.
When you access Data Imports, you'll find your past uploaded lists.
Import: The organization where the list was uploaded.
File: The friendly name of the file, what type of data import (customer, vin, etc) and how many rows are on the CSV.
Enrollment: The assigned campaign and the total number of enrolled customers.
There are two icons to the right of each import.
Click the purple "i" icon for details such as who uploaded the list and the imported fields. For enrollment insights, use the Campaign Run link in the lower-left menu to see why customers did or didn’t enroll.
Click the red trash can icon to remove the import from your view. Note: This does not remove enrolled customers, only the import listing.
Types of Data Imports
When creating a new data import, select either Customer or Vin.
For Customer imports, you’ll need 3-4 pieces of identifying info, including name and phone number.
For Vin imports, the Vin number must be included in the imported CSV file.
Loading a New List
To load a new list, click the plus sign icon on the upper right, next to Search.
You’ll fill in the fields indicated.
File Type: Customer or Vin
Organization: Select the store
Name: Internal Friendly Name
CSV File: Click to add the file
File Delimiter: Keep as default (Comma)
Data Import Template: If you frequently import the same list, create a template (more info below on page 5). Select the template here, if needed
Once all fields are filled, click Upload on the bottom right.
Once the list has completed loading, you will click the blue Map Fields button.
For each field, use the dropdown under System Fields to map the file. Select from available internal fields for each file type, aiming to map as many as possible.
You can also create Custom Fields for attributes that Volie doesn't recognize but are useful for your team. Mapping to custom fields is important, as Volie will store this data for future use in merge tags or customer profiles.
Type the name of the Custom Field, on the upper left hand side. Please note - no special characters can used for this field (such as -, *, etc).
Once you hit Enter, it will create that column header as a Custom Field, and will then be available in the dropdown.
Once fields are mapped, click the green Preview File Mapping button to review. If changes are needed, click the purple Continue Editing button. If correct, click the green Confirm Mapping and Process File button to complete.
As the import is processing, you’ll see a scrolling orange status under Enrollment.
When the import is complete, you’ll click
Assigning the List to a Campaign
Under Enrollment, click the Assign Campaign icon and assign the list to a campaign.
Once completed, you will see how many customers enrolled.
Creating a Data Import Template
Use templates for frequently loaded files with consistent column headers.
To create a template, enter a name in the top left white bar of your data import.
After mapping a list, you can also create a template by clicking the purple "i" icon and selecting Data Import Template Name in the left menu.
Once created, templates auto-map files when selected during import.
