How to set up Microsoft Teams Alerts
Connect your dealer organization to Microsoft Teams and save channel or user destinations so Pulse alert notifications can arrive in Teams.
Before you start
To set up Microsoft Teams Alerts, you need:
An allowed role to manage Teams alert setup (by default: account owner, manager, organization manager, or Super Admin)
Microsoft Teams Alerts enabled for your account (ask your Volie contact if you do not see the setup page)
The dealer organization that should receive Teams alerts
The Microsoft Tenant ID for that organization’s Microsoft 365 / Teams tenant (usually from your IT admin)
Definitions
These terms appear when you set up Microsoft Teams Alerts:
Term | Meaning |
Teams Alert Provider | The Volie page where you connect a dealer organization to Microsoft Teams and save destinations |
Destination | A saved Teams channel or Teams user that can receive Pulse alerts |
Destination Name | The friendly label used in Volie for that channel or user |
Send Ready | Status showing the destination can receive messages (Volie app installed and conversation ready) |
Teams Notifications | The control on a Pulse alert rule that selects Microsoft Teams destinations |
Steps
Follow these steps to set up Microsoft Teams Alerts:
Go to Admin → Microsoft Teams Alerts (page title: Teams Alert Provider).
Under Connection Setup, select the Dealer Organization.
Enter the Microsoft Tenant ID.
Turn Enabled on.
Select Save Connection (or Update Connection if a connection already exists). Use Reload Connection when you need to refresh an existing connection.
Under Channel Integration Workflow → 1. Identify Team & Channel, select Discover Teams, choose a Team, then select Discover Channels and choose a channel.
Under 2. Configure & Install, enter a Destination Name, select Save Channel Destination, then select Install App in Team. Installing the Volie app in the Team is required so Microsoft can finish the connection Volie needs to send messages.
Optional: Under Direct User Integration → 1. Identify User, search and select the Microsoft / Teams user. Under 2. Configure & Install, enter a Destination Name, select Save User Destination, then select Install App for User.
Under Test Message, choose a Saved Destination, optionally edit the Message (default text: Test Teams alert from Volie), then select Send Test.
In Saved Teams Destinations, confirm Send Ready shows Yes for the destination before you rely on live Pulse alerts.
What success looks like
When Microsoft Teams Alerts setup is complete, Connection Setup shows your dealer organization, Tenant ID, and Enabled on; Saved Teams Destinations shows Send Ready = Yes; and Send Test delivers a message to the Teams channel or user chat. If Send Test is unavailable or fails, confirm the Volie app was installed for the Team or user, wait for Microsoft to finish connecting, then refresh and retry.
Limitations
Microsoft Teams Alerts has these verified limits:
Microsoft Teams Alerts must be enabled for the account before Teams Alert Provider can be configured.
Setup and destination selection are limited to allowed roles (by default account owners, managers, organization managers, and Super Admin).
Destinations must be Send Ready before test or live delivery.
You cannot delete a destination while Pulse alerts still use it — remove it from linked alerts first.
The Admin list link Microsoft Teams Alerts is available to Super Admin when the feature is enabled; other allowed roles may need Super Admin help to open the page.
Campaign Hot Alerts do not include a Teams Notifications picker — this flow is for Pulse alerts.
Common questions
Who can set up Microsoft Teams Alerts?
By default, account owners, managers, organization managers, and Super Admin can set up Microsoft Teams Alerts. Super Admin can adjust allowed roles under Utilities → Microsoft Teams Permissions.
Why can’t I send a test message?
You usually cannot send a test message because the destination is not Send Ready yet. Install the Volie Teams app for the Team or user, wait for Microsoft to finish connecting, then refresh and retry Send Test.
Can I delete a saved Teams destination?
You can delete a saved Teams destination only when it is not linked to any Pulse alerts. Open Saved Teams Destinations, review linked alerts, remove the destination from those alerts, then delete it.
Is the Pulse filter titled Teams the same as Microsoft Teams?
No. On the Pulse alert form, the filter titled Teams (people/group icon) means Volie agent teams. Microsoft Teams destinations use Teams Notifications (Microsoft Teams icon).
